Presidents Message May 2007
President Report - 5/23/07
Another successful Capital City Cocker Club activity accomplished. Profuse THANK YOU's to ALL. Our Show was wonderful through the cooperation of our hard working members. The Show Chair, Luann Chandler, was the Eveready Bunny. She covered
the entire show site, handling the problems as they popped up. Nancy Bean, Obedience Chair, managed the Obedience trial and building with her usual efficiency. Between the two rings was the oasis on which everyone depended, Beth Slagle's sanctuary of refreshment. Hot beverages and muffins in the chilly morning were greatly appreciated. Beth also procured, prepared, and served lunch. Along with showing her dogs, Lesley Doney kept an eagle eye guarding her new baby, our background for the Picture Area. Conformation show neophyte Stephanie Pickerill was able to watch her dog in the show ring and assist with the trophy set up. Inside the Show Ring, Steward Dorothy Heindsmann kept the ring regulated. Diane Kepley made the public announcements throughout the show. Fellow cocker handler, Tom Dowell sang the National Anthem. The Judges, Michelle Soave, Deborah Verdon, Donna Meade (Obedience), Gary Fisher, Betty McClendon, and Denny Mounce did their jobs with professionalism. Salesmen Bill Gorodner and Melvin Stanbrough hawked the catalogues and raffle tickets from the sidelines while Neville Ward kept the show results and records in order. The cheering squad along the ringside, Lloyd Alton, Ginny Roop, Noreen Dunlap, Joanne Dzenkowski, Terri Pascal and Felicia Mazur, lent their guidance and extra hands. The exhibitors in the grooming area were kept happy by Lesley Doney, Gwen Hales and Laura Henson, who although on injured reserve, was still very actively participating. Sadly missed but in everyone's thoughts were Chris Miller and Jim Slagle. New members, John and Bobbi Moore fed the hungry crowd after the show with a filling Chicken Dinner. If I have forgotten someone, please forgive me.
With completion of our annual Specialty shows, the old committee chairs can take a well earned rest. If any old chairs have reports, forms, records or other club property, please make arrangements with me to return them by June 2. It has been a productive and informative year but all of the information was not good. ASC's problems have made everyone more cautious. The Board will be instituting some revisions to our normal procedures to ensure our club's and our treasurer's security. A meeting and activity schedule for this year will be prepared and disseminated after the next Board Meeting.
Everyone have a Happy, Safe and Winning Summer.
Christal
